Here are the photos from our evening visit to the Garden D'Lights display in Bellevue. They set this up at Christmas each year, but it's not really Christmas themed. They just create a garden setting with lights. They also throw in various animals like the sea monster photo here. It was a very cold evening and the place was packed, but the lights were impressive.

The Tree
Now I blog so seldom, we just seem to jump from holiday to holiday! I think we'll be dismantling this baby in the next few days so I thought I should post before it's really all over. We did all the usual stuff this year: Santa photos, gluten free cookie baking, the Garden lights display, the fabulous gingerbread houses by chef/ architect teams, a visit from Sat Kaur and Pritam, and for the first time ever, a tour of the local chocolate factory, Theo. I'll be posting more photos over the next few days, but let's start with these of decorating our tree.

Beach Week continued
For one of our daytrips we visited Capilano Suspension Bridge park in B.C.After dealing with intense crowds, we took a mid-day break and visited a salmon hatchery up the road. When we returned the park was wide open, the crowds gone, the early evening air perfectly warm, and the kids had a blast running across all those bridges and exploring all the nooks and crannies in the park.

Summer's end.
So here we are at the end of another summer. Always a little bittersweet for me, but we had some great times! Here are the photos from our first trip which was earlier in August. We spent a week at the cabin in Blaine and took our "summer brother" cousin Henry along with us.
Here the kids are picking blueberries.
This little guy kept flying down the beach every time Chris got out his camera which was pretty comical in retrospect, but Chris actually got a little annoyed at the time. A kingfisher.
The next three shots are from various hikes and walks where we did geocaching.
Of course we visited the birds again and we all had a few land on our hands, although Yogi was disappointed that they weren't as interested as other times.
S'mores around the evening campfire.
Fooling around on the beach.
I'll save the rest for tomorrow!

King Tut Exhibit in Seattle
Susan and I took the boys (and Linda and Dave) to see the King Tut Exhibit at the Seattle Science Center.
Top of a Canoptic Jar. Please don't think about what it was used for, just enjoy the fact that it is pretty.
The boys listening to their auto tour.
To me, this thing looks like an Egyptian inspired Andy Warhol sculpture, but it is an actual artifact they found in the treasury room.
Linda reading the display information.
Some kind of game: the boys favorite artifact!
Someone else taking a picture. Not as high res as mine, I'm sure, but it was probably posted to their blog/facebook page within seconds...
A Golden mask.
Susan, Beck and Dave. Waiting.
